As a child, she visited Newport Harbor High School, where she tried gymnast briefly and eventually started pole vaulting and in a short span of time became one of the youngest country’s best vaulters. In 2004, Allison caught national attention after winning twice at the CIF California State Meet with a broken leg.

While studying in Newport Harbor High School Allison began pole-vaulting after trying gymnast briefly along with her brother David. She gained national attention after winning the United States title at the age of 15 in 2004 due to her impeccable record of a jump of 3.81m (12 ft 6 inches).

In a short span of time, she broke multiple American high school records of pole vaulting. In the following year, Allison set a new high school record of 4.11m (13 feet 5.34 inches). In 2005, her fabulous performance help to win twice at the CIF California State Meet with a good margin. In the senior year of high school, Allison finished 8th at the national junior championships and ranked 2nd in the national high school rankings with a new best of 4.14 m (13 feet 6.34 inches).

With rising fame as an athlete, Allison moved to the University of California, Berkeley to study sociology, where she became a member of the California Golden Bears and broke the school record of 4.11m. She also participated in popular events including Pac-10 Conference and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation at the same time.

In the second year of college, Allison performed exceptionally well under the guidance of former five-time All-American at UCLA and her coach Scott Slover and set a record of 4.21m jump. Later that year, she made her debut at NCAA Women’s Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships and ranked 19th with her best effort of 3.90m (12 feet 9.12 inches).

Allison after completing her bachelors continued her pole vaulting and gave trials for the 2012 United States Olympic Trials. She failed to qualify as she did not pass the opening height of 4.25 m. Her performance gradually declined thereafter with a career’s best of 4.36m (14 feet 3.12 inches) in the same year. Presently, she works as a fitness model for numerous global fitness and sports brands including Nike.
